Sullivan County, incorporated on July 5, 1827, is located in the west central area of New Hampshire between Vermont and the Sunapee region of NH. With its County seat in Newport and County complex in Unity, Sullivan County covers an area of 528 square miles and is home to 14 towns (Acworth, Charlestown, Cornish, Croydon, Goshen, Grantham, Langdon, Lempster, Newport, Plainfield, Springfield, Sunapee, Unity, Washington) and the City of Claremont. The Office of Victim Assistance for the Sullivan County Attorney’s Office is seeking a highly skilled candidate to provide administrative support services to the Victim/Witness Coordinator. This position is part time, twenty hours per week and grant funded from February 2019 through June 2020. This position covers a wide variety of administrative clerical duties for coordinating victim/witness services; while providing exceptional customer service and support to victims/witnesses of crime.
Duties will include prioritizing work assignments and working independently. The Victim/Witness Administrative Assistant will ensure that victims and witnesses are kept well informed of information related to the case involving them, as directed by the Victim/Witness Coordinator. These communications include notification of significant court events, referral to appropriate support services, help determining and requesting restitution, the return of property and information concerning the conviction, sentencing, imprisonment, and release of the offender.
This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication skills and computer proficiency.
*Duties require knowledge of administrative skills equivalent to two to four years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
