This position requires professional and technical skills to provide a comprehensive program for the education and training of Sullivan County employees. Programs are designed and implemented in accordance with Federal and State regulations and must be consistent with the goals and objectives of Sullivan County. A wide variety of skills are required to assure accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks, including the ability to analysis and design specific programs, determine their effectiveness in accomplishing desired results as well as a commitment towards excellence in all related activities.
Develop, plan and coordinate Licensed Nursing Assistant and/or Licensed Medication Nursing Assistant training courses in accordance with accepted standards by developing curriculum and teaching modules, interviewing prospective candidates for the program, presenting materials in classroom and clinical environment, measuring and monitoring activities as well as organizing student work schedules with the staffing coordinator.
Develop, plan and coordinate Paid Feeding Assistant classes for non-nursing employees in accordance with the standards set forth by the NH Board of Nursing.
Coordinate Licensed Nursing Assistant classes with outside training companies to ensure appropriate facility specific mandated training is completed prior to resident interaction.
Plan and coordinate CPR classes to ensure all nursing staff maintain CPR certification.
Develop, plan and coordinate orientation programs for new employees to include facility tour, mandatory training information in acceptance with standards and policy, and to insure that each new employee is familiar with individual floor requirements. This position requires that nursing policy and procedures be reviewed with new employees and measures be taken to insure complete understanding.
Develop, coordinate and conduct a mentor training program to assist all departments with professionally training mentors.
Monitor the progress and performance of new orientees and meet regularly with the orientee and mentor to review any concerns during the orientation phase to ensure a positive experience.
Plan, coordinate and conduct annual mandatory training to include fire safety, resident rights, hazardous materials and infection control. Assess current and future training needs for the facility, develop and conduct necessary training programs, and maintain records of content and employee participation.
Conduct quarterly Infection Control rounds in all departments to ensure proper infection control processes and policies are followed.
Participate in policy and procedure committee, Safety Committee and Quality Assurance Committee. Maintain facility policy and procedure books.
Serve as employee health officer by investigating injuries and report findings to appropriate authorities. Maintain employee health records as well conducting annual flu immunization clinics for County employees and administer TB screening and Hepatitis vaccinations. Work in collaboration with the facility’s Occupational Health Facility to ensure work related injuries are monitored closely and altered duties are offered to employees when appropriate.
Interview and hire nursing department candidates.
Responsible for special projects assigned by the Director of Nursing. Serves as Acting Director of Nursing in the absence of the Director.
May assist in policy-making decisions for departments as requested.
Provide rotating weekend coverage for the Nursing Department.
