Sullivan County, incorporated on July 5, 1827, is located in the west central area of New Hampshire between Vermont and the Sunapee region of NH. With its County seat in Newport and County complex in Unity, Sullivan County covers an area of 528 square miles and is home to 14 towns (Acworth, Charlestown, Cornish, Croydon, Goshen, Grantham, Langdon, Lempster, Newport, Plainfield, Springfield, Sunapee, Unity, Washington) and the City of Claremont. The County’s population is approximately 44,000.

Food Service, Restaurant
A food service cook is responsible for providing palatable, nourishing food to Sullivan County Health Care residents, employees, guests and the Department of Corrections in accordance with established policies and procedures; uses and monitors methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning; uses and monitors temperature of hot and cold food to ensure that established temperature goals are met and maintained throughout meal service. Supervises dietary workers in the production and serving of meals for their assigned shift; supervises inmates working in the kitchen.

A candidate for this class of position should have completed a high school education or equivalent, with graduation from a formal technical school specializing in hotel or institutional cooking; and possess at least two (2) years of relevant work experience in a large nursing home, or a combination of training and progressively responsible work experience as would demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
A candidate for this class of position should have good knowledge of food preparation and nutritional practices and methods, menu planning and food costs; basic knowledge of geriatric dietary practices; working knowledge of English and math; the ability to read and post numerical data with accuracy; the ability to receive, understand and follow oral and written instructions; the ability to communicate with others, effectively, both orally and in writing; the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with others, such as: general public, co-workers, and other department personnel.
