Phillips Exeter Academy, a co-educational residential school serving students in grades 9 through 12, and post-graduate level, was founded in 1781 by John Phillips. Exeter has a tradition of academic excellence, a distinguished faculty, and a long history of educating young people to find their place in the world. The 671-acre campus with academic and residential buildings, a 309,432 volume library, playing fields and green lawns is located in Exeter, a southern New Hampshire town which retains its 18th-century New England charm. The Academy enrolls more than 1000 students from around the world. Exeter offers a rich curriculum with over 400 courses taught by 210 faculty in eighteen academic departments. The Academy employs approximately 425 staff who support the living, learning and teaching environment of a diverse student body. The Position
Reporting to the Director of The Exeter Fund, the Associate Director of The Exeter Fund will work with the Director of The Exeter Fund in planning, organization, and implementation of the Exeter Fund and the Reunion and Non-Reunion Gift Program. Key accountabilities include:
Fundraising and Development Leadership
• Oversees the reunion gift campaign for four classes.
• Cultivates and solicits donors/prospects at the leadership gift level.
• Identifies, recruits, manages, guides, and motivates alumni volunteer leaders.
• Plans and implements reunion giving campaigns including coordinating major gift solicitations with members of the Major Gifts staff and reunion volunteers.
• Attends events, both on and off campus.

Strategic and Administrative
• Develops strategies for giving and increasing participation of alumni to 50% or higher.
• Assists with the planning and staffing of Exeter Leadership Weekend and reunion weekends as assigned.
• Utilizes AgentSphere, an online tool for volunteer fundraisers.
• Works collaboratively with administrators and other departments within Institutional Advancement.
• Participates in planning meetings, accepting special assignments, assisting colleagues and providing support for all ongoing programs and operations as needed.
• Provides support for the volunteers of reunion/non-reunion classes, including the coordination of all solicitations.
• Shares responsibility for acknowledging gifts to the Exeter Fund and all miscellaneous Exeter Fund correspondence.
• Ability to request and analyze data to make strategic, programmatic decisions to increase retention and giving.
• Assists with the preparation of periodic reports, including the year-end Report of Giving.
• Assists with the supervision of office personnel and files.

Skills
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of direct annual giving fund-raising experience in a college or private secondary school development office.
• Previous experience managing a large number of prospective donors resulting in significant increased gifts.
• Previous experience working with a volunteer-based organization preferred.
• A passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Strategic high-level thinking coupled with the attention to detail necessary for successful planning and execution.
• Genuinely enjoys interacting with people.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with social media and networking and its application for advancement.
• Must be detail-oriented and possess superior organizational skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.
• Ability to prepare and effectively present both oral and written information concerning activities and operations to internal and external constituents.
• Knowledge of personnel management, supervision and staff training.
• Proficiency in basic data management systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
